Renowned gospel singer Lilian Jairo, celebrated for her uplifting hits and vibrant ministry, has shared a harrowing account of her battle with a rare illness that almost claimed her life in 2024. Speaking during an exclusive interview on Sunday, December 29, Jairo revealed how the ordeal tested her faith, resilience, and the support of her loved ones.

Jairo disclosed that June was particularly challenging as she faced a critical health crisis requiring a major operation. The condition, which she has battled for five years, intensified, leaving her at a crossroads. Doctors insisted on urgent surgery, and the financial burden seemed insurmountable.
“I was terrified of going into surgery. Many people don’t make it out alive,” she said, reflecting on her fears. Compounding her anxiety was the absence of her husband, who was in the UK at the time. “I didn’t even know how to tell him about the situation. But when I finally mustered the courage to share, he immediately promised to cover everything.”
Jairo recounted further challenges, including medical professionals allegedly avoiding her after learning about her limited financial means. Despite these obstacles, she successfully underwent the operation and is now on a path to recovery.
“I’m healing slowly but surely. It’s by God’s grace that I came out of the theatre alive,” she said.
Plans for 2025: A Grand Return to the Stage
Despite her struggles, Jairo is looking ahead with renewed determination. She has announced the return of her annual gospel music extravaganza, Dala, scheduled for February 8, 2025, at Nairobi Cinema. The event will feature the launch of her new album and promises to be a celebration of mentorship, talent, and worship.

Jairo, known for hits like In E Nyasaye, Utukuzwe, and Yesu, shared her gratitude to fans and supporters who stood by her during tough times. “You’ve all been a blessing to me. Thank you so much,” she concluded.
Jairo’s story of triumph over adversity is a testament to her faith, resilience, and unwavering commitment to spreading hope through music.
