Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr Oburu Oginga has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he is critically ill and awaiting a flight to the United States for further medical treatment.

Oburu, who addressed the reports in a post on his Facebook account, confirmed that he visited hospital early Tuesday morning but said the visit was only for a routine general medical check-up.

The Siaya Senator said he had seen a report published by Daily Nation on its digital platforms concerning his health and moved to reassure Kenyans that he was in good health.

“I have read the Nation’s digital news and wish to state that I am very well. I had only briefly visited the hospital for a general check-up with my doctors and have since returned home,” Oburu said.

The ODM leader dismissed the reports as unnecessary alarm, noting that illness is a normal human experience and assuring the public that he would personally communicate should his health situation change.

“Being sick is a normal human experience and should not alarm anyone. The day I am truly sick, I will inform you all, for I am a very transparent person,” he said.

Oburu also thanked Kenyans for their concern, reiterating that there was no cause for alarm as he was back home and resting.

“Thank you for your concerns,” he added.

His statement comes amid heightened political interest in the health and activities of senior political figures as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
