Kenya’s Harambee Stars sealed their spot in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after edging out Zambia 1–0 in a thrilling showdown at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

Ryan Wesley Ogam struck the decisive goal in the 75th minute, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations as the Stars wrapped up the group stage unbeaten with 10 points.
The victory books Kenya a quarter-final clash against Madagascar on Friday at 5 p.m. at Kasarani, while neighbours Tanzania face Morocco later that evening at 8 p.m. EAT.
Sunday’s win also comes with a handsome reward: KSh2.5 million and a new home for every Harambee Stars player, a pledge made by President William Ruto.

Speaking after the triumph, President Ruto hailed the team’s resilience, noting that many had written off Kenya after being drawn in the so-called “Group of Death.”
“At the beginning of the CHAN tournament, many didn’t expect Harambee Stars to go past the group stages. Yet, our boys have triumphed. They have shown the world what it means to believe in ourselves,” said Ruto.
He lauded the young squad for inspiring the nation, uniting fans, and proving Kenya’s ambition on the continental stage.
“Congratulations, Harambee Stars! You have done our nation proud. Now, march forward and conquer the continent. Do not settle for less,” Ruto declared, signing off with his signature phrase: “Nitacheza kama mimi. After all, dawa ya deni ni kulipa.”
