Al Ahly Ly (Libya) earned their first win of the 2026 Basketball Africa League season with a commanding 118-97 victory over Dar City (Tanzania) on Tuesday night in Pretoria, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the Kalahari Conference. Al Ahly Ly set the tone early, racing to a 17-4 lead in the opening quarter and never relinquishing control of the game.

The Libyan champions led 51-34 at halftime, capitalizing on strong rebounding and defensive pressure that forced Dar City into early turnovers. After dropping their first two games, Al Ahly Ly responded with a balanced offensive effort and renewed defensive intensity.
Donovan Williams and Majok Deng led the way with 22 points apiece, while Jean Jacques Boissy added 18 points off the bench. Damion Baugh recorded in 16 points and a game-high 18 assists, and Jo Lual Acuil Jr. recorded a double‑double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, anchoring the paint for Al Ahly Ly.
Dar City, who entered the matchup unbeaten, struggled to match Al Ahly Ly’s pace after a slow start. Michael Foster finished with a game‑high 37 points, while David Michineau contributed 20 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, and Junior Madut added 18 points, but the Tanzanian side was unable to close the gap after falling behind early.
The win marked the first time this season that Al Ahly Ly held an opponent under 100 points, and made them the first team in the competition to score more than 104 points in a single game.
Kalahari Conference resumes this afternoon when Petro de Luanda (Angola) takes on Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya) at 4 p.m. CAT, followed by Johannesburg Giants facing RSSB Tigers at 7 p.m. CAT.
