Kisumu City has officially launched the Kisumu City Law Courts in a milestone move set to improve access to justice and streamline tribunal services for residents.

The inauguration was presided over by Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga, who together with Chief Magistrate Hon. Dickson Onyango of the Kisumu Law Courts, declared the new institution open and immediately operational.
“I had the honour today of presiding over a historic moment for our city as we officially launched the Kisumu City Law Courts,” said Mr. Wanga. “The operationalisation of this court is not just an administrative achievement, it is a promise to our people that justice will be brought closer to them, delivered promptly and with dignity.”

The event was also attended by Hon. Valery Adhiambo, the newly appointed City Court Magistrate, and Kisumu Courts Administrator Noel Otieno.
The Kisumu City Law Courts will consolidate key judicial services, hosting vital tribunals including the Rent Restriction Tribunal and the Business Premises Rent Tribunal. City leadership said the move will cut delays in dispute resolution, enhance fairness, and strengthen accountability within the justice system.
Officials underscored that the establishment of the court marks a bold step in Kisumu’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice for all.
