KCB Volleyball Team solidified their legacy as champions, securing their third consecutive Kipchumba Karori Eldoret International Volleyball Tournament title with a thrilling 3-1 victory over DCI Sleuths in the finals. The electrifying match unfolded at Eldoret National Polytechnic in Uasin Gishu County, captivating fans with high-intensity action.

The Bankers kicked off the final with a narrow 27-25 win in the opening set, setting the tone for their dominance. They extended their lead by cruising through the second set 25-16. DCI, refusing to go down without a fight, clawed back with a 25-18 win in the third set. However, KCB’s grit and composure shone in the fourth set, where they sealed the victory with a hard-fought 25-18 finish.

Star Performances and Milestones

KCB’s Head Coach Japheth Munala lauded the team’s resilience and tactical execution.

“Winning this prestigious tournament for the third year in a row is a monumental achievement. The team’s determination and focus were exceptional, laying a solid foundation for the future,” said Munala.

The Bankers also swept individual accolades, with Terry Tata claiming the Most Valuable Player award and Fridah Boke named Best Setter—both still in high school and proving to be rising stars. Lincy Jeruto further bolstered KCB’s haul by earning the Best Libero title.

A Tournament of Dominance

KCB’s path to glory was marked by flawless performances, including clean sweeps against Ugandan teams KAVC (25-13, 25-15, 25-9) and KCCA (25-13, 25-16, 25-22), as well as local rivals DCI (25-22, 25-23, 25-22). In the semi-finals, they brushed aside Kenya Pipeline with a commanding 3-0 win (25-23, 25-19, 25-22).

The tournament’s drama extended to the other semi-final, where DCI edged Kenya Prisons in a nail-biting five-setter (25-20, 19-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-13) to book their spot in the final.

Captain’s Perspective

KCB Captain Edith Wisa highlighted the collective effort behind the victory. “This triumph reflects our teamwork and preparation. Every player gave their best, and this win is a major confidence boost for the team,” said Wisa.

The 14th edition of the tournament showcased top-tier volleyball talent from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and beyond, delivering unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.
