Ahero, Nyando Sub-County, was a scene of joy and celebration on Sunday as thousands of faithful thronged the Karanda Repentance and Holiness Church to witness the consecration of Senior Deputy Archbishop Dr. Hellen Ochieng into the priesthood. The milestone event drew worshippers from across the region, marking a significant moment for the church and its ministry.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Ochieng underscored the critical role of priesthood in society, calling it a cornerstone of spiritual and national life.
“I want to thank God very much for this day, as it marks the celebration of my consecration into the priesthood. Priesthood is a key pillar in the life of the church, the nation, and its people,” she said, reflecting on biblical examples of God’s choice of Israel, Levi, and Aaron as evidence of its divine significance.
Addressing the media, Dr. Ochieng reiterated the central message of her sermon, which highlighted the sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary and its profound implications.
“Jesus paid the ultimate price at Calvary, offering hope to all. Even if you are not yet a Christian or still in sin, Jesus has already paid the price for you. Our message is clear: repent and prepare the way, for the Messiah is coming,” she said.

Dr. Ochieng also acknowledged the responsibilities of her elevated role, pledging to extend the church’s reach and spread the message of salvation. She noted that leadership comes with challenges, likening them to the trials Jesus faced, culminating in His crucifixion for sins He did not commit.
On the issue of rising abduction cases, Dr. Ochieng declined to comment, stating she had not sufficiently reviewed the matter. Instead, she emphasized the church’s focus on advancing its agenda of repentance and readiness for the Messiah’s return.
“The solution to these challenges lies in repentance and turning to the Lord. As a church, we remain steadfast in this mission,” she concluded.

The consecration, filled with prayers and powerful preaching, left the congregation inspired and united in their faith, underscoring the transformative power of the gospel in addressing personal and societal challenges.
