Kisumu Central MP Dr. Joshua Odongo Oron has praised President William Ruto for unconditionally appointing Luos to critical positions in his government, urging the community to back the president beyond 2027.

Speaking to thousands at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sportsground in Kisumu during a Friday empowerment event for the Kondele and Kibuye business community, Oron singled out the appointments of John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, and Raymond Omollo, saying the president had “given them these roles unconditionally.”
“I want to thank His Excellency President William Ruto for giving Mbadi, Raymond Omollo, and Opiyo Wandayi jobs,” Oron told the crowd.
The legislator also commended the president for his achievements and plans for Kenya, referencing the November 20 State of the Nation address. Oron, who was present in Parliament, highlighted major infrastructure projects, including the Kisumu-Busia, Kericho-Kisii-Migori-Isibania, Kisii-Oyugis-Ahero roads, and the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) through Kisumu to Malava, emphasizing the collaboration between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Ruto as key to these developments.
“I was in Parliament yesterday, I heard what the president has done and the great things planned for us going forward. As a member of Parliament from Nyanza, I fully support Dr. William Ruto. These roads might not have been realized without collaboration with the head of state,” he said.

Oron also called on the Luo community to support Siaya County Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, recently confirmed as ODM party leader following the death of his brother, Raila Odinga. He urged regional leaders to maintain peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Let’s rally behind Oburu Odinga to strengthen the party. We are broad-based in 2027 and beyond. We love peace, and all contestants should maintain that peace going forward,” he added. The event was boosted by contributions from national leaders, including President Ruto and Chief Guest John Mbadi, each donating KSh 3 million. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen contributed KSh 1 million, while the host provided KSh 500,000, ensuring the success of the empowerment harambee despite local leaders’ absence.
