They called on the State to invest in the physical health of the teachers to avoid going into depression due to much work load and daily pressure at work.

The teachers need a break from their busy daily work to retreat for physical activities, merry make , eat and bond,’’ said Opande who donated Sh200,000 to the teachers’ sports activities.

He said understanding healthy eating habits helps in making better food choices, while activities like yoga, playing football, netball, volleyball and mindfulness can help reduce teachers’ stress.

Black Aende, one of the organizers of the program, said providing teachers with resources and training on physical wellness can empower them to integrate these practices into their classrooms.

Teachers who prioritize their own physical wellness can inspire students to do the same,’’ said Aende

Lawyer Stephen Nyandiare who graced the event, lauded the initiative as good for teachers’ stress relief. as it attracted more than 1500 teachers from the region.

Nyandiare said investing in these areas, the Nyakach leaders said, schools can create a healthier, more productive environment for both students and educators.

The leaders urged the government to come up with such social activities that allows teachers to bond at ease.

During the occasion at Nyakach, the teachers were treated to a light-hearted competition where they showcased their dance moves, encouraging laughter and camaraderie.

Teams worked together on fun tasks, like creating a dance routine or performing a skit to a popular song and also pulling the strings, skate walking among others.

Opande said singing together can break down barriers and create lasting memories.

“These activities not only promote bonding but also help create a positive, collaborative environment in the school,’’ he said.

The teachers led by Alvince promised to repeat the same in the whole Kisumu County to promote social bonding and ease stress to the teaching fraternity.
