According to Kisumu-based influencer Kennedy Abuto, popularly known as Kelly Rodgers, Atieno had accumulated school fee arrears amounting to Ksh 32,000. Thanks to the MP’s intervention, a significant portion of the debt—Ksh 14,000—has been cleared through a personal cheque donation, reducing the outstanding balance to Ksh 18,000.
“Hon. Joshua Oron has generously given her a cheque of Ksh 14,000, and the outstanding school fees balance now stands at Ksh 18,000,” Kelly stated.

Atieno, who lives with her grandmother Judith Guya, is now scheduled to return to school on Friday, May 2. However, she still lacks basic necessities required for a smooth resumption of studies. Kelly has made a public appeal for support, listing urgent needs including Ksh 2,000 for school shopping, Ksh 1,000 for pocket money, Ksh 500 for transport, five exercise books, and a pair of black rubber shoes.
“Dorcus is reporting to school tomorrow and I am humbly asking for help with the following basic essentials,” he added.
MP Oron has consistently championed education in Kisumu Central, pushing for more school infrastructure and policies that ensure all children can access education without interruption due to poverty or lack of resources.
This latest act of generosity underscores his ongoing commitment to empowering students and supporting grassroots efforts to keep learners in school.
