Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has issued a stern warning to young people engaging in political violence in Homa Bay County, vowing that both the perpetrators and their sponsors will face firm action.

Speaking on Saturday at Sasi Primary School in Ndhiwa Sub-County during a school empowerment program, Omollo condemned the recent wave of politically motivated violence, including an incident reported at an event he attended. He expressed concern that his home county was becoming a hotspot for political unrest, stressing that such incidents must come to an end.
“I want to set an example from Homa Bay here that political violence can be stopped, and it will stop,” he declared.
Omollo urged the youth to focus on education and personal development instead of engaging in criminal activities, emphasizing that meaningful progress requires skill-building and career advancement.
“After school, we want our young people to pursue other courses, not engaging in boda boda business and other criminal activities,” he stated.
He warned that those involved in political violence would bear the consequences alone, urging them to reconsider their choices.
“As a young person, you should strive to look ahead for your future. If you get killed because of politics, it is you and your family who lose,” he cautioned.
The PS condemned the growing trend of young people carrying weapons and attacking one another over political differences, stating that intimidation and coercion through violence would no longer be tolerated.
“Everyone has the freedom of association and speech, and nobody will be forced or coerced through violence to support a cause,” he asserted.

He further called for collective support to students who did not qualify for university, encouraging their enrollment in technical and vocational institutions. Omollo noted that many students come from poor backgrounds and urged leaders to unite in providing financial assistance to ensure access to higher education.
“Let everyone transition to a higher learning institution. This can only be done if we pull together,” he said.
He also encouraged families to register under the new government health scheme to access affordable healthcare services, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of all Kenyans.
