Advocate and National Housing Corporation board member Joshua Nyamori has commended the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for conducting peaceful grassroots elections across multiple counties.

Speaking to the media in Kisumu on Thursday, Nyamori attributed the calm exercise in 23 counties to extensive member training, voter sensitisation, and the deployment of advanced election planning systems ahead of polling day.

“UDA was conducting elections in 23 counties after 24 others had completed theirs. We had already undertaken thorough sensitisation, and I am pleased the exercise has concluded peacefully,” he said.

Nyamori also welcomed recent political engagement between President William Ruto and ODM leader Dr Oburu Oginga, terming it a step toward strengthening democratic collaboration. However, he cautioned against zoning arrangements, arguing they could undermine democratic competition.

“I am encouraged that President Ruto and Oburu Oginga have met to strengthen ties between the two parties. However, zoning is one way of killing democracy. These parties should be allowed to compete freely as brothers,” he added.

The advocate further lauded the Luo community for turning up in large numbers to register as voters and acquire national identity cards, noting that efforts would continue to boost participation.

Nyamori later joined UDA supporters along Oginga Odinga Street in Kisumu as they celebrated the winners of the grassroots polls. He maintained that the President’s development agenda warrants a second term to complete ongoing projects.
