Hundreds of women on Tuesday poured into the streets of Kisumu city, protesting what they termed as a campaign of “witch-hunt and political malice” against Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

The demonstrators, chanting pro-Omollo slogans, said Governor Wanga was orchestrating attempts to undermine the PS despite his “exceptional service” to communities across the region.
Speaking to the press, the women credited Dr Omollo with easing access to national identity cards, a process they said had long frustrated ordinary citizens. They also lauded his community development efforts, including building homes for widows and sponsoring education for children from vulnerable families.
“We’ve suffered in this country. We could not get ID cards, but through Raymond Omollo, we managed,” said Regina Sayid. “This man, Ray, has built houses for widows and paid full school fees for needy students. Governor Wanga should show us what she has done for Homa Bay instead of fighting him.”

Another protester, Sarah Opiyo, said the Luo community must avoid divisive politics, insisting that Dr Omollo should not be targeted. She invoked the legacy of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying he “left the Luo nation in government” and urged residents to remain focused on development.
“Baba Raila said clearly he would leave us in Canaan, and he did. My message to the president is simple: nobody should touch Dr Raymond Omollo,” she said. “Those we elected have not performed.”

The women vowed to resist any political intimidation directed at the PS, saying they would not be “sold like mandazi on the streets.”
They praised Dr Omollo for empowering women and youth, and thanked President William Ruto for rolling out the Nyota program, which they said had begun transforming livelihoods across Nyanza.
