Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, popularly known as Babu Owino, has issued a stern warning to ODM leaders attempting to dictate his political moves.

Speaking on Monday during the issuance of bursary cheques in Tassia, Embakasi Ward, Owino expressed unwavering respect and admiration for ODM leader Raila Odinga, while dismissing those below the former Prime Minister as having no authority over him.

“No one loves Raila Amollo Odinga more than Babu Owino. No governor, senator, MP, or MCA campaigned harder for Raila Odinga than Babu Owino. No one has been arrested more times for Baba Raila Odinga than Babu Owino,” he asserted.

“The only person I respect because of his age and status as my political father is Raila Amollo Odinga. Anyone below him is my brother. If it’s war, we will fight—even under your bed,” the outspoken MP quipped, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Owino didn’t hold back in describing his critics within ODM, cheekily claiming they were no match for him in “brains and handsomeness.”

“I am the last born in ODM; I should be loved, not fought,” he added, earning applause from his constituents.

The second-term MP clarified that he had no issue with the newly-formed broad-based government, as long as it delivered for the people.

President William Ruto formed the inclusive government after the June and July anti-government protests, bringing on board ODM stalwarts such as John Mbadi, Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and James Opiyo Wandayi.

Owino pledged to continue advocating for Kenyans’ rights, regardless of the consequences.

“Now we have a broad-based government, and some people are telling me not to oppose it. I will oppose it if it doesn’t work for the people,” he declared.

The MP, who has set his sights on the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, also urged parents to prioritize their children’s education at all costs.

“Do whatever it takes to ensure your children get educated. It is the key to a better future,” he emphasized.
