Parents at Manyatta Arab Primary School in Kisumu Central Sub-County are demanding immediate action after reports of alleged demonic possessions among pupils surfaced, prompting threats to withdraw their children.

Abraham Ochieng Ojwang, a parent with a Grade 7 child, expressed his alarm over the incidents, which he said were unprecedented in the school’s 14-year history. Ojwang recounted how he rushed to the school after receiving a distressing call at work.
“I found parents and teachers rebuking demons. If this issue isn’t addressed urgently, we will transfer our children to other schools,” he warned.
Ojwang called for a roundtable meeting involving parents, teachers, and stakeholders to resolve the crisis, while also cautioning against individuals allegedly harboring demonic influences.

Another concerned parent suggested that a large tree on the school premises should be cut down, suspecting it might be the source of the disturbances. She also urged parents to organize collective prayers for the school.
Reports from parents and pupils describe children mysteriously collapsing and claiming they are being pursued by an unknown figure. Some pupils reportedly saw a figure dressed in white. The incidents reportedly began on Monday, January 20, leading to panic among parents and staff.
Following advice from Kisumu County education officials, the school sent pupils home to allow parents to pray for them. The headteacher Mr Usman Gabole, fearing the escalating situation, has refrained from making public comments under a directive from local education authorities.

Efforts by The Kenyan Tabloid to contact Kisumu Central Sub-County Education Officer Charles Ang’iela and Kisumu County CECM for Education John Awiti were unsuccessful. Sources indicate the officials are consulting.
Parents are now anxiously awaiting decisive action to ensure the safety and well-being of their children.
