An aspiring Member of County Assembly in Kisumu has mobilised hundreds of youths in a spirited voter registration drive aimed at boosting participation in the 2027 General Election.

Victor Jajok, who is eyeing the Market Milimani ward seat, on Thursday led a large group of young people from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Ground to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) desk at the Huduma Centre located at Prosperity House in Kisumu.
The exercise, dubbed “Niko Kadi”, seeks to encourage youths to acquire national identity cards and register as voters, amid concerns that many risk being locked out of the electoral process.
Speaking to the media, Jajok underscored the urgency of the initiative, warning that failure to mobilise young voters could significantly reduce their voice in the next polls.
“I want to tell the country that today we were conducting the ‘Niko Kadi’ mobilisation to bring young voters here so they can register,” said Jajok.
He disclosed that at least 500 youths had successfully registered as voters during Thursday’s exercise alone, describing the turnout as highly encouraging.

At the same time, Jajok revealed that approximately 784 national identity cards remain uncollected, urging those yet to pick them up to do so promptly in readiness for voter registration.
“We are also mobilising those who have not collected their ID cards. I have found about 784 IDs that have not been picked. The exercise has been very successful, and I can confirm that over 500 youths have registered today,” he added.
Jajok called on leaders across the region to support similar initiatives, stressing that empowering young people begins with ensuring they participate in the democratic process.
“This is an ongoing exercise. We have engaged the IEBC, and they have assured us they will deploy officers to facilitate registration. Leaders must come together to support our youth. They need jobs, empowerment, and opportunities, but first, they must understand the importance of obtaining ID cards and registering as voters,” he said.
He affirmed that the mobilisation drive will continue until the targeted number of youth registrations is achieved.
