Businessman and Nyakach parliamentary aspirant Polycap Mburo has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations following the Kisumu–Kakamega road accident that killed 26 people and left 32 others in critical condition.
“Every drop of blood counts. Let us come together as a community to save these precious lives,” Mburo urged, echoing a similar call by Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga.
The survivors are being treated at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), where medical teams are working around the clock.

Deeply moved by the tragedy, Mburo pledged to mobilize resources for affected families. “This is not just a moment of grief but a call to action. We must stand with the survivors and bereaved families by offering psychological, medical, and financial support,” he said, adding that his team is conducting a needs assessment to provide targeted assistance.
The aspirant also joined growing calls for urgent road safety measures, demanding that the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) redesign the notorious Coptic Road stretch, which he described as a “death trap.”
“Engineers and architects have confirmed its flawed design. We cannot afford more lives lost due to negligence,” he declared, promising to rally professionals and county leaders to petition President William Ruto for immediate intervention.
As Kisumu mourns, Mburo urged unity and compassion: “Let religious leaders pray for the bereaved and let every resident show care. Together, we can turn pain into hope.”
The tragedy has sparked nationwide solidarity, with citizens and leaders stepping forward to support the victims. Mburo’s blood donation drive and advocacy for safer roads underscore the vital role of community action in responding to disasters.
“Healing begins with donating blood, offering support, and demanding safer roads. Let this tragedy unite, not break us,” he said.
