Kisumu East police officers have apprehended two notorious suspects accused of terrorizing residents in Kisumu County and its neighboring regions, including Nandi and Vihiga counties.

Kisumu East OCPD, Edward Wafula Masibo, confirmed the arrests made on the evening of Thursday, December 13. Officers from Kasagam Police Station, acting on an intelligence tip-off, arrested the suspects and recovered stolen items, including household goods.

According to Wafula, the breakthrough came after Rolex Atieno Owuor, a victim of a violent robbery reported on December 10, spotted one of the suspects in Nyalenda A slums. Owuor promptly informed the police, leading to the arrest of Gilbert Otieno, alias Peto.

Upon interrogation, Otieno disclosed the hideout of another gang member, Mark Otieno, alias Faraj, in the Obunga slums within Kisumu Central. A raid on the hideout yielded stolen goods, including a 65-inch Vitron TV, a 32-inch Samsung TV, a Compaq laptop, and other household electronics.

Both suspects were taken to Kasagam Police Station, where they remain in custody. The stolen items have been inventoried and secured, awaiting identification by the victims. The suspects are scheduled for arraignment in court on Monday.

“The safety of the public remains our priority,” Wafula stated, reaffirming his commitment to cracking down on criminal activities in Kisumu East and beyond.
