A Kisumu County revenue officer has been charged with bribery following his arrest by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Francis Muga Odhiambo, the revenue officer in charge of Kisumu Bus Park, was arrested on February 9, 2026, and arraigned before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court a day later, where he faced charges of soliciting and receiving a KSh10,000 bribe.

Odhiambo pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh20,000 or an alternative bond of KSh50,000.

According to EACC, investigations revealed that the officer allegedly demanded KSh18,500 from a businessman operating a matatu between Kisumu and Kisii, threatening to pursue fabricated charges against him if the money was not paid. The suspect was later arrested after allegedly receiving KSh10,000 as part payment.

Upon completion of investigations, the Commission forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved criminal charges against the accused.

The case is scheduled for directions on February 25, 2026.

EACC said it remains committed to combating corruption, protecting public interests, and enhancing access to quality public services.
