Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Dr. Joshua Oron has urged residents to enroll in the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme to access universal healthcare, assuring them that the government is addressing initial system hitches.

Speaking on Sunday during a fundraiser at the Church of Peace in Africa in Kajulu Ward, Oron emphasized the need for civic education on the benefits of SHA to enhance participation.

“I urge our people to register for SHA and enjoy free comprehensive outpatient services in both public and faith-based hospitals,” Oron stated.

The legislator underscored the new healthcare model’s role in promoting equity, explaining that middle-class contributors will help support vulnerable groups.

“SHA ensures no one is left behind. It’s a collective effort to bridge the healthcare gaps,” he added.

Oron also lauded President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga for fostering national unity through bipartisan talks, urging Kenyans to support the inclusive government for better service delivery.

“Let’s pray for the President and Raila Odinga as they steer this delicate balancing act of inclusivity,” he appealed.

The MP highlighted that the bipartisan talks have resulted in a more inclusive system, ensuring that marginalized communities receive key government appointments.

His remarks come as the government intensifies SHA registration efforts in a bid to achieve universal health coverage, despite public skepticism over its implementation.
