Kenya is set to take center stage as it hosts the East Africa Regional Global Health Security Summit (EARGHSS) 2025, a three-day event scheduled for January 25–28 at Pwani University, Kilifi County.

The summit will serve as a pivotal platform to tackle emerging health challenges, strengthen regional resilience, and highlight East Africa’s role in fostering global health collaboration.

Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, emphasized the importance of partnerships during a recent meeting with Nebraska University and Vision 2030 representatives.
“This summit showcases the power of partnerships in advancing health security. Together, we’re building a future grounded in preparedness, innovation, and collaboration to safeguard everyone’s well-being,” Muthoni stated.

EARGHSS 2025 aims to capitalize on East Africa’s strategic position, burgeoning infrastructure, and dynamic health initiatives to establish a resilient and inclusive health security framework. The summit will focus on combating emerging infectious diseases and bolstering public health systems across the region.

The event will bring together global health experts, government leaders, and private-sector stakeholders to explore strategies for prevention, preparedness, detection, and response to health threats.

The summit comes at a critical moment for Kenya, as the country continues its commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the reinforcement of health systems. It will also prioritize discussions on vaccine-preventable diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and emergency preparedness.

Health sector players are expected to develop actionable measures to promote regional cooperation and innovative approaches to address these challenges, solidifying Kenya’s leadership in global health resilience.

With preparations in full swing, the summit promises to shape the future of health security in East Africa and beyond.
