Tension flared at Kisumu City Hall on Thursday when suspended County Director of Inspectorate, Job Nguka, stormed his former office and physically attacked the officer temporarily holding his position.

Nguka, who had been sent on compulsory leave over allegations of failing to rein in county officers accused of extortion and harassment, confronted Henry Alego in a heated exchange that swiftly escalated into violence.
The altercation reportedly began when Alego reminded Nguka to collect his dismissal letter, a request that infuriated the former director. The chaos forced the intervention of John Oywa, communications advisor to Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, who managed to restrain Nguka before further escalation. Senior county officials later stepped in to defuse the situation.

Alego has since reported the assault to police. The dramatic incident occurred while Governor Nyong’o was in his office, raising serious concerns about professionalism and order within the county government.
