President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering young people through investments in sports, the creative economy, digital innovation, overseas employment, affordable housing, infrastructure and business support, saying the initiatives are creating millions of opportunities for Kenya’s youth.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Monday, where he hosted Migori Youth FC, the 2025/26 National Super League champions, President Ruto said the government is deliberately investing in sectors that will enable young people to drive the country’s economic transformation.
“We are empowering young people to contribute to the transformation of our nation and become the architects of Kenya’s future,” President Ruto said.
He added that government investments in sports, the creative and digital economy, overseas employment, business support, affordable housing and infrastructure development are opening up millions of jobs and opportunities for young Kenyans.
The President said sports remain a key pillar of the government’s youth empowerment agenda, revealing that the State is building and upgrading 34 stadiums across the country to nurture talent and create more opportunities for aspiring athletes.
“In sports alone, we are building and upgrading 34 stadia across the country to support talent development and expand opportunities for our young people,” he said.
Ruto noted that the investments are already bearing fruit, citing Kenya’s continued dominance in international athletics and the historic qualification of the Junior Harambee Starlets for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

During the meeting, the President handed Migori Youth FC a team bus to facilitate travel for their league fixtures following their promotion to the FKF Premier League. He also pledged KSh10 million to support the club as it prepares for top-flight football.
The President further announced that the government is constructing a modern stadium in Migori County, saying the facility will provide the club and the wider community with world-class infrastructure for talent development and sports growth.
The support comes as the government seeks to strengthen grassroots sports development and position athletics and football as major sources of employment and economic opportunity for young Kenyans.
