Preparations for the highly anticipated Nyanza International Investment Conference, set for February 6–8, 2025, at Ciala Resort, Kisumu, are in full swing.

Earlier today, the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of the President, Eliud Owalo, alongside National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, met with the event’s Organizing Committee in Nairobi to assess progress.

Led by Chairman Jalph Olende and Vice Chairman Michael Monari, the committee provided an update on logistical and strategic plans. The meeting underscored the conference’s significance in attracting investments to the Nyanza region, driving economic growth, and creating jobs.

A follow-up meeting with governors from the Lake Region Economic Bloc is scheduled for early next week to align county-level priorities for seamless collaboration during the event.

  • Focus Areas: Renewable energy, education, ICT, infrastructure development, road infrastructure along the Lake Victoria circuit, offshore oil and gas, agriculture, climate change adaptation, lake transport systems, tourism, and innovation for the blue economy.

  • Event Host: President William Ruto will preside over the opening ceremony.

The conference aims to unlock Nyanza’s economic potential by showcasing investment opportunities and fostering partnerships across key sectors. It marks a pivotal step in President Ruto’s agenda to enhance regional economic integration and attract investments to underdeveloped areas.

Originally planned for last year, the event was postponed due to Gen Z protests. With preparations now in their final stages, organizers promise a transformative gathering poised to elevate Nyanza’s socio-economic landscape.
