Suna West MP Peter Masara has supported Eliud Owalo’s presidential ambitions. He believes that the former aide to the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga has the necessary political experience to pursue the country’s top office.

In an interview on a local television station, Mr. Masara stated that Mr. Owalo gained valuable political insight while working for Mr. Odinga.
“Mr. Owalo is a knowledgeable individual who walked alongside the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He understands what he is doing,” Mr. Masara said.
Even though Mr. Owalo has not announced a political party ahead of the 2027 elections, Mr. Masara advised him not to join competing groups. He suggested that Owalo either start his own party or consider joining the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
“My plea to him is not to join a different political party. If he wants to form his own, that’s fine, or he can join ODM so we can strengthen the party,” he added.
The legislator claimed that uniting ODM would boost the party’s influence in future coalition discussions.
“ODM party represents several communities, including the Maasai, Kalenjin, Coast people, Kamba, among others. Let’s fortify the party so we can go into negotiations as a strong team while focusing on 2032,” he pointed out.
Mr. Masara also expressed that Mr. Owalo could help deliver the presidency to the Luo community.
“I wish him well. If he is the one to bring the presidency to the community, that’s excellent,” said the MP, adding, “Who am I to stop him? If he has decided to run, he has his reasons.”
Mr. Owalo, who previously served as Cabinet Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy before stepping down as Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Delivery and Government Efficiency under President Ruto’s administration, aims to challenge his current boss in 2027.
