Hundreds of patients turned up at Lisa Community Hospital in Kadibo Sub-County, along the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway, on Friday, February 14,2025 to receive free medical treatment during a special outreach program. The initiative, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, aimed to address the healthcare needs of the local community.
Hospital Administrator Evelyne Alai emphasized that the outreach was driven by a sense of compassion for the locals, given the hospital’s strategic location as a gateway to East African nations.
“This is a Level Four hospital, and we organized the outreach as a way of demonstrating our humanity and commitment to the community,” she said.
Alai noted that the hospital accepts patients registered under the newly launched medical scheme by President William Ruto’s administration. She described the turnout as overwhelming and announced plans for similar outreaches in other sub-counties, including Muhoroni and Nyakach, in the coming months.
The most common ailments treated during the outreach included coughs and malaria, among others. Speaking to the press at the facility, Alai encouraged residents to seek medical care whenever unwell and assured them of the hospital’s continued support.
“We will walk with the community in their health journey,” she said.
Patients expressed gratitude for the free medical care provided. Maria Akumu, one of the beneficiaries, praised the quality of care she received, saying, “I got medicine and am happy with the care I have received. I’m hopeful to recover soon.”
Another patient, Moses Ochieng from Kobura, shared his appreciation, stating, “I have been unwell, and when I heard the announcement, I came over. I am grateful to the facility for attending to me.”
The outreach attracted people of all ages, including children, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities. A team of trained medical doctors, nurses, and clinical officers was on-site to provide professional care to the attendees.
Lisa Community Hospital’s Valentine’s Day medical initiative not only brought relief to hundreds but also reinforced its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the Kadibo community.
