Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has expressed his appreciation to President William Ruto and the Cabinet for officially elevating Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) to a state corporation.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Nyong’o lauded the move, noting that it would provide the hospital with the necessary resources to enhance service delivery across the Lake Region and beyond.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to President William Samoei Ruto and the Cabinet for making Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital a state corporation,” Nyong’o stated.

The governor also commended JOOTRH Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, the hospital’s staff, and the Board of Management for implementing key reforms that have significantly improved healthcare services at the facility.
“I sincerely thank Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, his staff, and the hospital’s Board of Management for undertaking various reforms that have exponentially improved service delivery,” he added.
Nyong’o reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting JOOTRH through capacity-building initiatives to ensure efficient healthcare services.

The elevation of JOOTRH comes at a time when the facility has been making strides in medical advancements, including the recent acquisition of additional seven high-efficiency dialysis machines to provide timely treatment for kidney patients.
This development follows a historic political handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Ruto, which many believe will unlock more development opportunities for the Nyanza region.
