Kisumu governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has shared his condolence message, following the death of Charles Babu Karan.

Until his demise on Monday night, was the Chairman of the Kisumu County Public Service Board (CPSB).
Karan, a career teacher and a distinguished administrator died at the Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa, where he was rushed after falling ill while attending a conference last week.
Nyong’o conveyed his condolences to the people of Kisumu, for the big loss.
“On behalf of the Kisumu County Executive Committee and staff, I convey my heartfelt condolences to Mr Karan’s family, his relatives, friends, Members of the Kisumu County Public Service Board, and the people of Kano for the big loss,” he said in a statement.
The late Karan, Nyong’o added, will be remembered as a career teacher who helped to nurture students in the many schools where he worked.
“At the Public Service Board, he provided highly professional leadership that helped the Board to provide the Executive with the required Human resource needs. Mr Karan was also a respected community opinion leader across the County.”
Burial plans will be announced later.
According to Kisumu.go.ke, Karan was born and brought up in Lela Kombura, Kadibo Division of Nyando Sub-County.
He attended Lela Primary School, St. Mary’s School Yala and later trained as a teacher at Machakos Teachers College.
He studied Bachelor of Education and Masters in Project Planning & Management both at the University of Nairobi.
Being a self-motivated person, he worked in various institutions both primary and secondary and later worked as a Senior Education Officer.
He is a founder member of the giant Kenya Primary Heads Association (KEPSHA) and the first vice chairman.
Karan served as a member of Truth Justice & Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) in charge of ten counties in Western region.
He was among the directors, SKY FM Group in Kisumu.
