Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga has extended an open invitation to the business community, urging investors to establish new ventures in the lakeside city, which he described as a secure and thriving hub for business.

Speaking during the grand opening of a City Walk outlet at United Mall along the Kisumu-Kakamega road, Wanga highlighted Kisumu’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
“Kisumu City is on the trajectory of improving the status of the business community and atmosphere. We welcome more investors to come,” he said.
Wanga underscored the critical role of investors in driving the local economy through job creation and enabling trade.
“Businesses like City Walk provide young people with employment, and their wages help circulate money within the city,” he added.
Assistant County Commissioner Daniel Otieno, representing the County Commissioner, reassured investors of enhanced security measures in Kisumu, noting that the city is under 24-hour security surveillance. “Kisumu is safe, and this new shop is a bold statement to that fact,” Otieno remarked, addressing past concerns over insecurity in the region.
City Walk’s Operations Manager, Margaret Lyani, expressed excitement about the outlet’s launch and praised Kisumu’s strong consumer market.
“Our branches are strategically located, accessible, and convenient. We are thrilled by the buying power of Kisumu and look forward to further expansion,” Lyani said.
City Walk, which began operations in 1991 with a single branch, has now grown to 31 outlets nationwide, showcasing its continued success in the retail sector.
The new Kisumu outlet marks another milestone for the footwear retailer and signals the city’s readiness to attract more investments and bolster its position as a key economic hub.
