Ulinzi Starlets turned on the heat at Mumboha Sports Ground, clinching a thrilling 2-0 win over Bunyore Starlets in a gripping Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) clash on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

The visitors wasted no time stamping their authority, with Tabitha Amoit breaking the deadlock in the second minute. A perfectly executed corner saw Amoit rise above the defense and deliver a precision header that stunned the home side and ignited Ulinzi’s charge.

Bunyore Starlets, backed by passionate fans—some perched high on tree branches—fought tooth and nail to level the score. But Ulinzi’s defense proved unyielding, keeping Bunyore at bay as the first half ended in favor of the visitors.

The second half brought a moment of brilliance from Joy Kinglady, whose audacious long-range strike from outside the box soared past goalkeeper Yvone Musungu. The goal not only sealed the win but also marked Ulinzi’s first-ever triumph over Bunyore Starlets on their home turf.

Ulinzi head coach Collins Ochieng hailed his squad’s adaptability and grit, emphasizing the team’s game-by-game approach.
“These players are immensely talented. Our focus is on keeping this momentum and instilling the belief that they can conquer any challenge,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bunyore’s coach Solomon Masika, still settling into his role, remained upbeat despite the defeat.
“We faced a seasoned team. Though many of my players are new to the KWPL, the narrow loss shows we’re progressing,” Masika noted, promising a stronger second-half comeback post-Christmas break.

The victory catapults Ulinzi Starlets closer to the summit of the KWPL standings, while Bunyore struggles at the bottom with six points. As the league pauses for the holidays, Ulinzi will regroup, ready to chase the title when the action resumes.

This high-octane battle was a testament to the growing intensity and competitiveness in the KWPL—fans can expect even more fireworks in the second half of the season!
