Thousands of Kisumu residents, politicians, and religious leaders from Nyanza gathered on Tuesday at the Power of Jesus Around the World Church in Kachok, Kisumu, to seek divine intervention for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s victory in the upcoming African Union Commission (AUC) elections.

The mega prayer session, led by Bishop Apostle Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede, brought together Nyanza bishops, the Luo Council of Elders, and Siaya Governor James Orengo. Bishop Ngede termed the event historic, recalling that similar prayers were held for former U.S. President Barack Obama before his election.
“Today is a historic occasion. As bishops from Nyanza, alongside our beloved Governor James Orengo, we have gathered to pray for our son, Rt. Hon. Dr. Eng. Raila Amollo Odinga, as he seeks victory in the AUC elections on February 15 and 16. We believe God will grant him the mantle to lead Africa. When Barack Obama came to Kenya seeking blessings, we prayed for him in Siaya, and God answered our prayers—he became the first Black president of the United States. Our God is a God of miracles, and I believe Odinga will emerge victorious,” said Bishop Ngede.
Luo Council of Elders Confident in Odinga’s Victory
The Luo Council of Elders, led by chairman Odungi Randa, expressed unwavering support for Odinga’s candidacy. He praised Apostle Bishop Ngede for organizing the prayer session and lauded Governor Orengo for attending.
“Prayer is the key that opens all doors. I remember the story of Paul and Silas, who prayed until the prison gates opened. Today, we are praying for Raila Amollo Odinga, and I am confident that he will win. Wuod Nyalego (Odinga) is destined for victory,” said Randa.

Governor Orengo: Odinga Has More Political Battles Ahead
Siaya Governor James Orengo, the event’s chief guest, reinforced his confidence in Odinga’s chances, stressing the power of faith and prayer. Correcting an earlier remark from the Luo Council of Elders suggesting that Odinga had only one political bullet left, Orengo asserted that Odinga still had many bullets remaining to fulfill his leadership aspirations.
“We believe in the power of prayer, and we thank Apostle Bishop Ngede, religious leaders, and the Luo Council of Elders for their support. Raila Odinga is going to be the AUC chairman. We have no doubt, but we need God’s presence in this victory. Let me assure you—Raila still has many political bullets left. With divine protection and support, he will use them to secure leadership,” Orengo said.

High-Profile Delegation to Accompany Odinga to Addis Ababa
The Kenyan Tabloid has learned that President William Ruto, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, at least 100 Members of Parliament, and top government officials will travel to Addis Ababa in a show of solidarity with Odinga, Kenya’s candidate for the AUC chairmanship. Governors from across the political divide are also expected to join the delegation.

The high-stakes election, set for February 15 and 16 at the African Union summit, will see Odinga face off against Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Madagascar’s Richard Randriamandrato.
With fervent prayers and mounting political backing, all eyes are now on Addis Ababa as Odinga prepares for a decisive moment in his political journey.
