Kisumu is set for a dramatic transformation following the launch of the Sh120 billion LV Marina housing project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at elevating the Lakeside City to international living standards.

Unveiled on Saturday, January 18, 2025, the ambitious project by GulfCap Real Estate will span over 280 acres at Kirembe, near Kisumu International Airport. The development promises luxury housing, commercial hubs, recreational facilities, and industrial spaces, centered around a state-of-the-art convention center.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, hailed the project as a milestone for Kisumu’s future.
“The future belongs to cities that prioritize higher living standards—better homes, schools, hospitals, and amenities. Giving residents quality housing ensures everyone has a stake in our urban centers,” Odinga said.

Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the project’s transformative potential.
“This initiative will not only redefine Kisumu’s skyline but also cement our position as a premier hub for investment, innovation, and growth,” Nyong’o stated.
Spearheaded by GulfCap Real Estate, chaired by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member Suleiman Shahbal, the project embodies a vision of modern living.
“LV Marina is designed to provide the kind of life seen in global cities—luxury, convenience, and community. It’s about giving every resident a first-class standard of living,” Shahbal noted.
The project’s master plan was developed by a consortium of experts from Kenya, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Construction is expected to span six years, with the development set to offer diverse opportunities, from high-end housing and commercial spaces to vibrant recreational zones and industrial facilities.

As Kisumu continues its rise as an investment destination, LV Marina is poised to redefine urban living and attract international attention to the region.
