Team Kenya has delivered exceptional performances at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Games, excelling in volleyball, athletics, and tug of war. The games, which aim to foster regional unity through sports, have seen Kenya asserting its dominance in Mombasa this week.

Kenya’s women went head-to-head with Tanzania in a thrilling tug of war showdown at the 2024 EALA Games in Mombasa.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula lauded the team’s achievements, emphasizing Kenya’s competitive edge.

“Our Parliament continues to shine at the EALA Games with stellar performances in volleyball, athletics, and tug of war. These successes underscore Kenya’s dominance and competitive spirit in the regional sports arena,” Wetangula stated.

The men’s volleyball team is set to face archrivals Tanzania tonight at 6 PM at the Aga Khan Academy. With a history of fierce rivalry between the two teams, the match is anticipated to be a showcase of tactical brilliance and unrelenting athletic spirit.

“This promises to be a thrilling encounter that fans won’t want to miss,” Wetangula added.

On the athletics front, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, MP for Manyatta, emerged as one of Kenya’s standout performers. Sharing his experience, he said, “Today, I participated in the 100M, 400M, and 4x100M races. I won a silver medal in the 400M and contributed to our gold medal victory in the 4x100M relay. It’s an honor to represent Kenya and bring home these victories.”

The games have brought together parliamentarians from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the EALA Secretariat. The week-long event concludes tomorrow, with Team Kenya poised to add more accolades to its tally.
