Tusker FC flexed their championship muscles in a thrilling 2-1 win over reigning FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, on Sunday evening. Ryan Ogam, the league’s leading marksman, stole the show with a spectacular brace that kept Tusker firmly in control at the top of the table with 33 points.

The Brewers entered the clash riding high after a midweek triumph over Bandari FC and carried that momentum against a determined Gor Mahia side playing their first game of the year under interim coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno.

The match opened with end-to-end action as Gor Mahia’s Lawrence Juma unleashed a thunderous effort in the 11th minute, only for Tusker’s goalkeeper Brian Opondo to deny him with a stunning save. Moments later, Tusker almost drew first blood when Ogam broke through on goal, but Gor Mahia captain Geoffrey Ochieng’ executed a last-ditch clearance to keep the scores level.

The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when substitute Dennis Oguta delivered a pinpoint low cross that Ogam coolly slotted into an empty net after rounding Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper, Kevin Omondi. It was Ogam’s 14th goal of the season, underscoring his lethal form.

Gor Mahia fought back valiantly and found their equalizer in the 69th minute through Austin Odhiambo’s exquisite free-kick that soared into the top corner. The defending champions nearly grabbed the lead minutes later, but Opondo’s heroics kept Tusker in the game.

With the match hanging in the balance, Tusker’s persistence paid off in the dying moments. Dennis Wanjala’s floated free-kick in the 88th minute found Ogam unmarked at the far post, and the striker made no mistake, tapping in the winner and securing the vital three points.

Tusker’s victory extended their league lead and sent a clear message to their title rivals, while Gor Mahia must regroup as they navigate a challenging season marked by inconsistency. As the Brewers celebrate another commanding display, Ryan Ogam continues to shine as the league’s standout performer, raising hopes of a golden season for the prolific striker.

Can Gor Mahia bounce back, or will Tusker’s golden run prove unstoppable? The FKF Premier League is heating up, and the action is only just beginning!
