Migori County has distributed Kshs 40 million to 400 groups across its 40 wards under an ambitious economic empowerment program. Spearheaded by the Department of Trade, the initiative aims to uplift small businesses, strengthen cooperative groups, and drive economic growth in the region.

During the program’s launch on Monday, Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko underscored his administration’s dedication to improving livelihoods and supporting entrepreneurship.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to prioritize economic progress for the people of Migori. These funds are designed to help groups grow their businesses, boost productivity, and generate jobs. Let our actions speak louder than words; the time for politics will come in 2027,” said Dr. Ayacko.
Deputy Governor Dr. Joseph Mahiri reinforced the Governor’s message, emphasizing the administration’s focus on development over political squabbles.
“Our responsibility is to deliver on promises. Migori residents will judge us based on results, and we are confident in their continued support come 2027,” Dr. Mahiri stated.

First Lady Dr. Agnes Ochilo praised the initiative’s impact on small businesses and urged patience from critics.
“Economic empowerment builds resilient communities. For those questioning our efforts, I ask for patience. When it’s time for politics, we’ll let our achievements speak for themselves,” she affirmed.
Trade CECM Dr. Betty Samburu highlighted the equitable structure of the program, ensuring benefits reached all wards.
“This program is designed to empower entrepreneurs by providing resources to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods,” she explained.
Chief Officer for Trade Victor Ouya called on beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds to maximize impact.
“This funding offers a unique opportunity to transform lives. We trust that beneficiaries will use it responsibly to achieve lasting results,” said Mr. Ouya.
The event showcased unity among county leaders, who collectively urged critics to focus on constructive discourse rather than political attacks. Migori County’s leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to economic growth and community empowerment, with this program serving as a cornerstone of their efforts.
