Kisumu police nab suspects in possession of imitation gun and narcotics

Kisumu County police, acting on intelligence, arrested two suspects linked to violent crimes and drug possession during an early morning operation on November 20, 2024. The operation, led by DCI and undercover officers from Kondele Police Station, targeted criminal hideouts in Kisumu East Sub-County.

Hillary Otieno Odera, alias “Gonza,” believed to be involved in a series of robberies, was apprehended in his rented house at Kona “S.” During a search, officers recovered a black imitation gun resembling a pistol, concealed inside a box labeled “Ailyons.” Additional items seized for forensic investigation included civilian camouflage attire, multiple SIM cards, four button phones, an Oppo smartphone, an ATM card, brown envelopes allegedly used in fraudulent activities, and a 32-inch Golden Tech TV.

Following his arrest, Odera led officers to the residence of his accomplice, Charles Otieno Otieno, alias “Baba Farouk,” in the Kunya area. A search of the premises uncovered approximately seven grams of cannabis sativa, a hammer, and two pairs of scissors. Otieno was also taken into custody.

Both suspects were transported to Kondele Police Station, where they were booked and charged. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits for further investigation.

Police, particularly Kondele OCS Daniel Ogechi, are urging members of the public to continue providing tips to authorities, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential to addressing the insecurity in Kisumu.
