The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership in Kisumu County has issued a stern warning to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, accusing them of using ODM leader Raila Odinga’s name for political gain. The leaders reminded Musyoka of his role in the disputed 2007 election, alleging that his betrayal of Odinga contributed to the post-election violence.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, Kisumu Central ODM Party Chairman and Kisumu County Assembly Chief Whip Seth Ochieng Kanga alias ‘Adui Nyang’ criticized Musyoka for what he termed as hypocrisy. He said Musyoka, who chaired the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO), should not discredit the agreement signed between Odinga and President William Ruto, as it was a product of the NADCO report.
“To the doom-mongering and power-hungry politicians, especially Kalonzo Musyoka, we say look in the mirror,” Kanga said. “You are the real betrayer. It was Musyoka who, in 2007, aligned with Mwai Kibaki to legitimize election fraud, triggering the violence that followed.”
Kanga also took a swipe at political figures from the Mount Kenya region, saying they should not dictate the country’s political direction. “Nobody assigned them the duty of giving Kenyans direction. We will stand by the pact signed between Odinga and Ruto,” he stated.
The ODM leadership reiterated their unwavering support for the new political partnership between Odinga and President Ruto, describing it as a strategic step toward national unity.
“Raila Odinga, despite his past grievances, continues to put the nation first. He is a statesman and peacemaker,” Kanga added. “This new political dispensation proves Odinga’s commitment to the well-being of Kenya.”
The Kisumu ODM delegation, which included chairpersons from all seven sub-counties, county assembly members, and Bunge La Wananchi representatives, reaffirmed their endorsement of the Raila-Ruto alliance.
“We are here to show that we support the union between Raila Odinga and President Ruto, a move aimed at lowering political tensions in the country,” said Johnson Guya, ODM County Secretary for the coordinating committee. “Those attempting to undermine this initiative should reconsider their stance.”
The leaders also called on President Ruto to visit Kisumu and engage with residents following the agreement, emphasizing that dialogue is essential in fostering peace and development.
