Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has moved to clear the air over claims that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) owes DJ Pinto Cahill money for services rendered during several party events.

The legislator said he personally reached out to the deejay after Cahill took to social media alleging that ODM had failed to pay him for entertaining crowds at a number of rallies held at the party’s historic Linda Grounds.
According to Jalang’o, his conversation with the deejay revealed that Cahill had attended and performed at the events voluntarily and was not formally engaged by the party.
“I have spoken to DJ Cahill regarding his claims that ODM owes him payment for services rendered at several rallies. According to him, he voluntarily attended and performed at these events without being formally engaged or contracted by anyone from the party,” Jalang’o said.
The MP noted that the incident should serve as a lesson to artists and service providers on the importance of formal agreements before undertaking professional assignments.
“This serves as an important lesson for artists and service providers: never undertake professional work without a clear agreement in place. Always ensure there is a contract outlining the scope of work and payment terms, and where possible, secure payment before delivering your services,” he said.
“Professional engagements require professional arrangements to avoid misunderstandings and disputes. All said, I’ll get him the money he has requested.”
Jalang’o further disclosed that the deejay who had initially been expected to handle entertainment duties at the events was DJ PSKRATCH, suggesting that Cahill stepped in on his own initiative.
The lawmaker also faulted the deejay for airing the matter on social media instead of first reaching out to the individuals who had brought him on board.
The payment dispute had sparked heated debate online, with social media users divided over whether ODM should compensate the deejay despite the absence of a formal contract. Some critics questioned Cahill’s professionalism, while others argued that he deserved payment for services rendered.
However, Jalang’o said he would engage ODM officials to explore ways of facilitating payment of the Sh50,000 that Cahill is seeking, effectively cooling tensions surrounding the controversy.
His intervention appears to have settled the matter, bringing clarity to a dispute that had generated significant discussion across social media platforms.
