Kisumu police have shot and killed George Okoth Oduor, the fourth suspect in the murder of Wells Fargo HR Director Willis Ayieko. Oduor, who had previously evaded police during a shootout on Tuesday night, was tracked to a guesthouse near Kisumu National Polytechnic, where he was reportedly armed and prepared to confront officers.

Nyanza Regional Police Commander Patrick Tito confirmed the incident, explaining that the officers traced Oduor to the hideout with the help of the guesthouse staff.

When officers encountered him, he was armed and ready to engage. The officers neutralized the threat, recovering a pistol loaded with live rounds and several spent cartridges,” said Mr. Tito.

Police say that upon reaching the suspect’s room, they received no response to repeated knocks. When they heard the suspect cock his weapon, they forced entry and fired. Oduor’s body has since been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

On Tuesday, Oduor had fled a confrontation with police while in the company of a woman who was arrested after being found unconscious in their vehicle following a high-speed chase and exchange of fire.
