A 30-year-old Mpesa businesswoman was brutally stabbed to death on Friday night in Kisumu East Subcounty in what police suspect to be a crime of passion.

The deceased, identified as Brenda Awuor Magak, was attacked near the Butter Toast Boda Boda Shade at Nyamasaria Centre along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway. Police reports indicate that Rosemary Achieng, alias Mama Boy, allegedly stabbed Magak after finding her in conversation with her husband, John Ayima, a boda boda operator.

According to witnesses, Ayima had allegedly been in an affair with the deceased, which enraged his wife. On the evening of the attack, Achieng reportedly confronted the pair, fatally stabbing Magak in the chest with a kitchen knife before fleeing into the darkness.

Police officers from Kasagam Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kisumu East responded swiftly to the crime scene. Forensic experts documented the scene before transferring the body to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) morgue for an autopsy.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for Achieng, who remains at large. The case is now under investigation by DCI Kisumu East.
