Violence erupted at the California Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Nakuru on Saturday as a heated dispute over financial accountability and leadership spiraled into a physical brawl between the pastor, church elders and members. The shocking confrontation, which unfolded during a church service, saw heavy blows, kicks, and jabs exchanged, leaving the congregation in shock.

A video circulating on social media, seen by The Kenyan Tabloid, shows a furious elder accusing the pastor of misconduct and demanding his arrest. The elder, visibly enraged, condemned the pastor’s decision to involve law enforcement, insisting that church matters should be resolved internally.
“We understand the procedure of this issue. I have even given up, but I must be given time. We must be given time to air our views, not forcing things. The church has orders; this is not the procedure. We cannot do things like this,” the elder protested. He further accused the pastor of falsely reporting them to the area chief, claiming they had threatened his life.
The Nakuru church chaos follows another disturbing incident in Homa Bay County, where a man was stabbed to death on the pulpit in Ramoya Village, Suba South Constituency. The victim, who was about to deliver a sermon, was allegedly murdered over accusations of having an affair with a fellow church leader’s wife.
These shocking incidents have raised national concern over escalating tensions within religious institutions in Kenya, with many calling for urgent measures to restore order and accountability in places of worship.
