The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Nyanza Region, hosted a Ladies’ Wellness Conference in Kisumu, bringing together women prosecutors, judicial officers, and health experts for an engaging forum on mental health, empowerment, and breast cancer awareness.

The event, held in line with the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasized the importance of early screening, emotional well-being, and achieving work-life balance in demanding professional environments.

“This conference is focusing on ladies’ wellness, in line with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That is why ODPP Nyanza Region decided that this is the time to hold this conference,” said Mr. Renson Ingonga, the Director of Public Prosecutions, who served as the chief guest.

Ingonga lauded the initiative as a timely reminder for women in public service to prioritize their health while supporting one another in professional growth. He revealed that women make up about 58 percent of the ODPP workforce, with many serving in senior leadership and prosecutorial roles.

“In ODPP, about 58% are women, and some of them are in leadership roles. They act as mentors for those who are new in the profession,” he added.

Deputy DPP Jesinter Nyamosi hailed the conference as a safe space for women prosecutors to share experiences and develop coping mechanisms when handling sensitive cases. She reaffirmed ODPP’s commitment to staff welfare and clarified that all prosecutors operate within the law as provided under Article 157 of the Constitution when reviewing or withdrawing cases.
