Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has lauded Agai Secondary School, popularly known as The Green Cardinal, after the school’s football team delivered a commanding 9-1 victory over Garissa High School in their opening match at the 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national games in Kakamega County.
“Hearty congratulations to the Agai boys for their absolutely breathtaking 9-1 win against Garissa High School,” Governor Nyong’o posted on his official Facebook page Tuesday evening.

Describing the performance as “phenomenal,” the governor praised the team’s skill and unity, urging them to maintain the momentum throughout the tournament.
“Let’s harness this incredible momentum and drive it all the way to bringing the championship accolades home,” he added.
Kisumu County’s top leadership, including Deputy Governor Mathews Ochieng Owili, CECM for Sports Beatrice Odongo, and Deputy Majority Whip Lumumba Owade, were in attendance in Kakamega to rally behind the Nyakach-based side.
In other Day 1 KSSSA national football results, Musingu Boys showcased dominance with a ruthless 5-1 demolition of Moi High School, while St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale cruised to a confident 3-1 win over Highway Secondary. Kirangari High School also made a solid start, blanking Serani Secondary 2-0 with a disciplined backline display.
The tournament continues Wednesday with more group-stage clashes as teams jostle for a place in the knockout rounds.
