Kenya’s Afro-Benga maestro Stanley Otieno, aka Apesi, is gearing up for a musical showdown as he prepares to share the stage with Luo Rhumba legend John Junior at Vibanda Village in Nairobi on March 15. Fans are in for an electrifying night as the two musical heavyweights bring their signature sounds to the capital.

In an exclusive interview with The Kenyan Tabloid on Saturday, Apesi revealed that he is currently in Mombasa, recording and shooting his fourth album, “Made in Kisumu”. While the final confirmation is still pending, he hinted at what could be one of the most thrilling live performances of the year.

“I am currently in Mombasa for a shoot and recording my album. We are yet to confirm, but I’ll be sharing the stage with John Junior at Vibanda Village on March 15,” Apesi said.

And the Nairobi party doesn’t stop there! Apesi also confirmed that he will be performing at Gecco Café in Lavington on March 20, calling on his fans to turn up in large numbers for another unforgettable night of pure musical fire.

“On March 20, I will be performing at Gecco Café, Lavington. I call upon my fans to come in large numbers,” he urged.

The self-proclaimed Mnyama Mkali is on a mission to take Luo music to the world. He passionately called on his millions of fans in Kenya and abroad to keep supporting his journey, vowing to elevate Obunga beats and Afro-Benga to global heights.

“Keep supporting me. We are on a journey, taking Obunga to the world, taking Luo music to the world. I love my Kisumu fans so much; they’ve seen my growth and stood by me,” he said.

And for his international fans, the wait is almost over! Apesi confirmed that he will be performing in Europe this August, promising an explosive experience for his global audience.

With a string of hits like “Sero Yotna,” “Cham Sombi,” “Kublus,” and “Kwa Bar”, Apesi has cemented his place in the music industry, transcending borders and captivating audiences worldwide. Despite his humble beginnings in Obunga, Kisumu’s largest slum, he has taken his sound from the streets of Kenya to Dubai and Europe, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry.

From Mombasa to Nairobi and soon Europe, Apesi is proving that Afro-Benga is unstoppable—and he’s just getting started!
