Mathare United CEO Jectone Obure, popularly known as FAW, has officially thrown his hat back into the political ring, declaring his intention to contest for the Central Seme Ward MCA seat in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a meeting in Seme Sub-county, Obure said he is ready to take on his political rivals and urged residents of Central Seme Ward to entrust him with leadership, promising to champion development and improve service delivery if elected.

Obure described himself as an accessible and people-centred leader, saying he possesses the qualities needed to effectively represent the ward in the Kisumu County Assembly.

“If we hold hands together, I am sure we will defeat them. If you have a group, whether for women or men, I will be there immediately to assist. I am flexible, available and a servant of the people,” said Obure.

The football administrator and businessman also took a swipe at the incumbent MCA, accusing her of failing to deliver meaningful development projects to residents.

According to Obure, Central Seme has lagged behind other wards in Kisumu County due to poor leadership and lack of commitment to addressing residents’ needs.

“There is still a lot of work that needs to be done for Central Seme to match other wards that are making significant progress in development,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by one of his key supporters, who urged residents to rally behind Obure, claiming the electorate made the wrong choice during the 2022 elections.

The supporter said Obure has demonstrated his commitment to the community and is best placed to steer the ward towards progress.

“I have seen the changes he has already initiated. Let us forget what happened in 2022 because we made a mistake. We should stand with him so that we can rescue our ward, which is lagging behind in terms of development,” the supporter said.

Obure’s declaration sets the stage for what is expected to be a fiercely contested battle for the Central Seme Ward seat as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
