A tragic accident in Kong’ou, Nyakach Sub-County has claimed three lives and left three others nursing serious injuries following a head-on collision between a Nissan matatu and a bodaboda carrying four passengers.

According to a police report, the Nissan was traveling from Kisumu to Homa Bay County, while the bodaboda was ferrying passengers from Pap Onditi. The bodaboda driver, who was carrying more passengers than legally allowed, lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the collision.
The impact was devastating, with three passengers on the bodaboda dying instantly. The injured, including the bodaboda driver, were rushed to St. Anne Nyadero Hospital in Nyakach for emergency treatment.
Authorities have highlighted the dangers of overloading and reckless driving as investigations into the incident continue. The crash serves as a grim reminder of the need for adherence to traffic rules to prevent such tragedies.
