Kisumu residents have showered praise on Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo following a three-day free ID card registration exercise that has seen more than 3,000 people obtain the crucial document, many for the very first time.

The fully sponsored initiative, spearheaded by PS Omollo, drew long queues across the four designated centres: Kondele, Kosao in Manyatta, Mama Grace Onyango Hall, and Pandpieri in Nyalenda, as residents turned up in large numbers to secure identification cards.
According to records from registration officials, at least 2,712 new applicants had been registered by Wednesday and Thursday. The team projects that by the close of today, the total number of newly registered ID holders will hit approximately 3,500.
Mauren Nyambwa, one of the coordinators of the exercise, described the three-day activity as highly successful and called for an extension of the initiative.
“We are grateful to our PS, Raymond Omollo, who has stood with the youth to ensure they access ID cards without difficulty. Please extend this to other constituencies too. Asante sana,” Nyambwa said.
Kondele trader Lucas Otieno commended the programme, saying it has warmed the hearts of many in Kisumu. He noted that residents appreciate the effort by both President William Ruto and PS Omollo to ease access to identification documents.
“We want to thank the President and Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo for bringing Kipande Mashinani to Kisumu. Today marks the third day, and previously we struggled to get ID cards at the offices, but now the service is free. The PS should expand this programme to other areas. I’ve seen that Luos have the numbers, and I’m sure we will be number one or two in Kenya in terms of population,” Otieno remarked.
Youth leader Dave Owango echoed the sentiments, saying Dr Omollo’s influence continues to grow across the Luo nation due to his consistent efforts to bring government services closer to the people.
“We are grateful to Dr Raymond Omollo for bringing these services to the community. Many youths could not register for scholarships because they lacked ID cards. This initiative is a game-changer. We are enjoying government services courtesy of Raymond Omollo. To our people: come out and get your ID cards,” Owango urged.
As the three-day mobile registration drive concludes in Kondele, Kisumu Central Constituency, residents are being encouraged to visit the Huduma Centre and the Deputy County Commissioner’s office to continue acquiring the document. The ID registration drive is running alongside the nationwide continuous voter registration exercise.
