In a lively ceremony filled with pomp and color at Mama Grace Onyango Social Hall, Kisumu hawkers received a significant boost on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, as lawyer and aspiring senator Fred Odumo donated tents and financial aid to support their initiatives. The event, organized by the Kisumu Central Hawkers for Development (K-CHAD) Community-Based Organization, highlighted Odumo’s dedication to uplifting small-scale traders in the region.
K-CHAD Chairman George Okoth expressed his gratitude during the launch of the new tent.
“When we met last time, he promised to give us a tent that can accommodate 100 people or 100 chairs. Today, on behalf of Kisumu Central Hawkers, we are launching our new tent donated by Odumo. This will help us earn money through hiring and use during our development events,” Okoth said.
Okoth also called on hawkers to rally behind Odumo’s senatorial bid, praising his commitment to improving their livelihoods.
Charles Omondi, representing one of K-CHAD’s 20 groups, which together boast over 4,000 members, commended Odumo for delivering on his promises.
“We’ve never seen a leader who promises and delivers, but he has done it. Fred Odumo has worked closely with Justice Maraga, so we have no doubt that he will deliver. We will support him to the ballot,” Omondi declared.
The K-CHAD deputy chair Vincent Omollo echoed these sentiments, urging residents across Kisumu’s seven sub-counties to embrace Odumo’s leadership.
“Fred Odumo is a leader who does as he promises. His dedication and actions speak volumes about the kind of senator he would be. We should rally behind him,” they stated.
