Katito town in Nyakach Sub-county came to a standstill on Thursday as hundreds of residents, including traders, thronged the town centre to celebrate one of their own, Mr. Jacob Ochieng Liech, who bagged KSh1 million in the ongoing Coca-Cola Funua Flava Pata Mita promotion.

Ochieng, escorted in a Coca-Cola caravan from his home a few kilometres away, arrived in the heart of Katito alongside his wife, Caroline Achieng. Overwhelmed with joy, he thanked the beverage giant for transforming his life, noting that his children would no longer be sent home for school fees.

“I am very happy today. I want to encourage other Kenyans to try their luck because it is true. I started playing in June this year until I became a million-shilling winner,” said Ochieng, attributing his victory to divine providence.

His wife echoed his sentiments, urging Kenyans to buy Coca-Cola products, play, and stand a chance to win life-changing prizes.

Coca-Cola Nyanza Region Sales Manager, Winnie Maina, affirmed the authenticity of the promotion, urging more people to participate.

“We are excited because we are here to reward our Funua Flava KSh1 million cash prize winner. The promotion is real. All one needs to do is buy a 300ml Coca-Cola or any of our brands, check under the yellow crown, and SMS the code to 40111 for a chance to win,” she said.

Maina revealed that the Funua Flava promotion, which runs from August to October, comes with daily prizes ranging from airtime bundles to cash awards of KSh100, KSh50,000, KSh100,000, and the grand prize of KSh1 million.

She noted that Ochieng is the second millionaire in the campaign after the first winner emerged from Marigat, Baringo County.

“We have 12 millionaires in total. With two already crowned, 10 more Kenyans still stand a chance to walk away with KSh1 million each,” Maina added.

Katito residents broke into song and dance, hailing Ochieng’s win as proof that fortune can shine even in the remotest towns.
