The family of slain photographer Joseph Owino, popularly known as Joe Myles, is demanding swift investigations into his brutal killing, urging authorities to bring those responsible to justice.

Speaking in grief, Myles’ mother appealed to Babu Owino, the Embakasi East Member of Parliament, to intervene and help the family pursue justice for her son.
“My son was not a thief. When I saw his body at the morgue, it was clear he had been killed,” she said through tears. “Kindly help me, Babu Owino, to find justice.”
According to the grieving mother, Myles had received a call from a client last week requesting a photography assignment. She said the family had no idea that the job would turn out to be his final outing.
She also dismissed suggestions that the incident was a robbery. The car Myles had been driving was found at the scene with his photography equipment intact. The only item reported missing was his mobile phone, although its charger remained inside the vehicle.
The mother further claimed her son’s body showed signs of severe assault, suggesting that the attackers may have had a personal motive.
Naivasha DCI head Isaac Kiama, who is leading the investigation, described the killing as “macabre.” He said detectives were able to identify the body using documents recovered from the victim’s clothing.
Kiama added that the vehicle found at the scene had been hired from Nairobi, and investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the photographer’s death.
The killing has sparked outrage among Kenyans, with many taking to social media to demand faster investigations and the arrest of those responsible. So far, no suspect has been arrested since the incident occurred.
